Amana American Fridge Freezers
The Amana company was started 1934. It was established by George Foerstner in Middle Amana, Iowa as the manufacturer of commercial refrigeration appliances.
In 1950, the company was sold to a group of investors and renamed Amana Refrigeration, Inc. Raytheon acquired the company in 1965, and by 2001, the brand name was owned by Maytag. In 2006, the brand was acquired by the Whirlpool Corporation, along with the rest of Maytag's brands.
